Pemba Accommodation & Cultural Activities

November 25, 2019 /Posted byvc

There are many things do to while in Pemba. All Pemba accommodation is great, the beaches are beautiful and sights are remarkable. Sometimes one would like to get involved in some of the more traditional and cultural activities the place has to offer. Chuibabaylodge is a beautiful luxury lodge that offers a wide range of easy to access cultural activities.

You can:

  • Watch the Macua women and children of Chuiba Village, swiftly conquering the sea at low tide, collecting clams, mussels and sea urchins – their daily curry – and the fragile dhows flowing with the tide, in which local men bring ashore fresh fish, lobster and prawns – the delicious dishes Pemba is famous for.
  • Wonder yourself watching the skillful Maconde masters while they create the world famous ebony sculptures – incredibly intricate masterpieces like the Shetani (devils) or Ujama(project activities), using traditional methods handed down from generation to generation, or performing their tattoo rituals and the Mapico Masks Dances.
  • Visit the local Villages, its people and traditions.

There are more activities you can get involved in and you can view them on our activities page on our website.

If you would like to make a booking at the Chuibabaylodge, you can do so via our bookings page on our site or you can contact us first. Our details are on the websites contact page.
